Food Links and Resources

Food websites
I get emails from saveur.com and they just have some amazing photography and great recipes.  They also frequently spotlight people with food blogs!

I love looking around on allrecipes.com mostly because I can check out reviews and see how people adapt their own recipes.  There are also lots of handy tips on how to do the cooking basics.  If you sign up you can also have your own recipe box to collect recipes you liked or want to try!  You can look me up on there if you want, I'm catholicfoodie!

I've recently started finding some great looking recipes on foodgawker.com  I think the site is mostly dedicated to great food photography, but most of the posts are attached to food blogs.

Documentaries:
I've watched a few documentaries on food which are all fascinating to me.  You should check them out!
Food Inc
Food Matters
Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead

Other food stuff I like:
I know, I know Anthony Bourdain is a bit well....he's not exactly the type of food personality you would expect a good Catholic stay at home mom to enjoy watching.  Or maybe you would?  I think he's very entertaining and I love watching him travel around the world on No Reservations and eat stuff.  It's inspiring to see how chefs around the world prepare fresh local fare and it's great to learn about food movements in different parts of our own country.  Anthony Bourdain highlights a lot of that stuff in the show too.  Thank you netflix for allowing me to watch the show without commercials!

I know, you'll think I'm cheesy.  But I really liked the movie Julie and Julia.  You should check it out.  Julia Child is awesome. The Julie Powell in the movie was probably one of the pioneer food bloggers, so it's only fitting that I reference the movie on my blog right?

The Bulk Herb Store is great for buying inexpensive organic herbs and learning a TON about how to use them.  They have so much info on this site, you could sit for hours learning about how the plants God has given us can help heal all sorts of problems!  The owner of the store has a lot of great recipes and methods for using herbs on her youtube channel too.  I'm hoping to try making my own lip balm soon and maybe my own lotion!
